East-West Streets (part 4), LES and SoHo

Week 12:  8.5 miles to run several East-West streets between the two rivers from Houston southward: starting at Kenmare into Delancey, Rivington into Prince, Houston, and then Stanton. This covers parts of the Lower East Side, SoHo, and what’s now called Hudson Square (south of the West Village). Two-mile-long Houston Street is one of the longest uninterrupted E-W (crosstown) streets in Manhattan. Took a brief detour into the parking lot of the K-12 New Explorations into Science, Technology, and Math public school (adjacent to Hamilton Fish Park) for what remains of Sheriff Street (Cecil Taylor’s first Manhattan residence, in the mid-1950s). 11:00am Wednesday (12/1/2021).  (see main map for details)
